"The best way to connect with the craft or design object is by actively participating in its creation."

(Jonathan Chapman, "Emotionally Durable Design")

Riina Õun is offering a variety of workshops and masterclasses from hand-crafting leather gloves, to material-making workshops and introducing circular economy and alternative sustainable bio-materials.

Glove-making

Handcrafting soft leather gloves is an old skill, going back to the middle ages, that has started to disappear due to the labor-intensiveness and the mechanisation of the glove-making process. Only a few skilled professionals around the world are currently practicing the art of making gloves by hand.

As a skilled specialist, I would like to carry on this beautiful meticulous craft, introducing the techniques to more people and carrying the tradition into the 21st century.

I have been working with some of the top academic institutions around the world, teaching the glove-making workshop at the Royal College of Arts in London, the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins, Edinburgh College of Art, Kolding Design Institute and Copenhagen Academy of Fashion and Design in Denmark, Academia Koefia in Rome as well as Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, China Craft Week in Hangzhou and London Craft Week.

If you would like to learn hand-crafting beautiful leather gloves, below are the upcoming workshops open to public.
