Have you ever imagined changing the colour of your gloves?
Riina O teamed up with the smart textile designer Kristi Kuusk to create two pairs of experimental colour changing Astra gloves.
The gloves are decorated with a screen-printed pattern using heat-sensitive pigments that react to the temperature change - in this case the heat of your hands - turning the stars from dark grey to light blue.
The futuristic element is highlighted by selecting stars as a hint to the space age and technological advancements. Thermochromic inks printed on leather explore the possibilities of the future, accessible already now.
There is also a more mysteriously shadow blue pair.
The first week of November Riina O travelled to a novel destination - all the way to China, to showcase at China Craft Week in Hangzhou, held at the Creative Design Centre.
From the 1st to the 5th of November Riina O was exhibiting and selling a selection of gloves and small accessories, featuring our newest collection "Luciferase" with the high-tech retroreflective leather detailing on luxurious leather gloves.
The exhibition brought together a number of top designers and makers from the UK, Ireland, Italy and Thailand, as well as China to display the diversity of handcraftsmanship and emphasis the personalisation of design.
On Saturday the 3rd of November the archery-inspired fashion glove making masterclass took place, introducing the workshop participants the basics of hand-stitching leather gloves and offering a new exciting experience.
It was a wonderful journey with many amazing people! We are very thankful for this experience.
Last weekend, on the 9th September Riina O was invited to Northampton to do a pop-up during the Heritage Open Day at the National Leather Collection.
Northampton is regarded as the heart of the UK’s leather and footwear industry. It is a home to the only university offering a Leather Technology course in English.
The town also has an exciting footwear museum, full of gorgeous historic shoes.
The National Leather Collection was founded as the Museum of Leather Craft in London 1946. Supported by the London Livery Companies, the museum takes care for the largest collection of items and information relating to Leather in the world. Recently moved to Northampton, the museum will open to the public in a few months - The Open Day was a chance to offer a sneak peek into their magical universe of leathercrafts with artefacts from prehistoric archaeology to 20th-century warfare.
The National Leather Collection is aiming to house the creative hub with the facilities to run workshops. It would be won...
Last week we had a small clients event at our Estonian stockist - Oksana Tandit Boutique.
It was a great opportunity to meet our guests in person, talk about the brand, style a few looks and offer a sneak peek of our newest collection, while sipping bubbly.
Riina O is one of the "Guest Designers" currently selling at Oksana Tandit showroom in Tallinn. Other guests include jewelery by Tanel Veenre and bags by Jukocute. If you are in Tallinn, please visit us at
